The Bell UH-1 Iroquois, commonly known as the “Huey,” is a versatile utility helicopter developed by Bell Helicopter for the United States military. First flown in 1956, it became the first turbine-powered helicopter used by the U.S. Army. Renowned for its reliability and adaptability, the UH-1 served extensively during the Vietnam War, performing roles such as troop transport, medical evacuation (medevac), and air assault. Its distinctive two-blade main rotor and unmistakable sound made it an iconic aircraft of the 20th century.
